Isaac Update

Good news! Isaac had a good day today resting a lot. Last night his feeding tube got clogged so the nurses took it out, but now they can’t get it back in because Isaac is too scrappy and doesn’t like it. So today he was completely off med’s. He slept during the whole morning visit, but this afternoon his Occupational Therapist (an awesome Christian lady!) came in and worked with him. With help, they got him to stand up for a bit. She tested him to see if he would respond to hot and cold things, which he did. He was really irritated with the cold, and when she asked him which was which he mouthed the words, “Hot… Cold.” She was blown away and really positive when she gave us the update.

Then his Speech Therapist came to give him a swallow test to see if he could eat on his own. She was kinda skeptical I think when she asked him to open his mouth to eat the piece of ice – but he did it! He opened his mouth, and chewed the ice when asked to. He swallowed when asked to, and he tried to open his eyes. The therapist is going to let us start giving him ice, but first she has to give him some medicine to get ride of the “Thrush” in his mouth. Also, when the therapist touched his eye brows he opened his eyes and looked around. He looked at his dad, and Grandma Jo, and me, and then when the therapist called his name he looked at her. He wasn’t conscious, but all this is progress! God is good and is moving in Isaac’s body – healing him. Tonight he has a high fever of 102 and had a terrible shaking episode just before we left. It was related to the fever, and not his brain condition, but it still makes us uneasy.

His nurses have done a great job! God continues to surround Isaac with Christian nurses, and we’re so grateful for them. We have been blessed.

Please pray for his fever to leave and his temp to get back to normal. Pray for the Dr.’s to be able to get the feeding tube back in so Isaac can get the nutrition he needs seeing as his body burns LOTS of calories while his brain repairs. He needed a lot of food before this! 🙂

And continue to pray for him to come back to consciousness! THAT IS THE BIGGEST
THING!

I know that it gets easy to kinda relax in our prayers when things don’t SEEM so desperate. But please realize they are! Isaac has a very long recovery ahead of him, but we are still trusting God for complete healing. I feel like God’s been putting it on my heart to encourage you to keep praying earnestly and seriously! This battle isn’t against the things we see, it’s not in the hands of Dr.’s or nurses really – it’s a spiritual battle and only Christ has the victory.

Please keep praying for Isaac’s protection! Thank you all so much! Be encouraged – our Lord hears you and is acting!
God bless
